After several weeks of debate about the obligation to swear an oath to the king to sit in the National Assembly, the leader of the Parti Québécois received a very special gift from Marc Tanguay.
As a joke, the interim leader of the Liberal Party of Quebec offered Paul St-Pierre Plamondon a biography of King Charles III.
“Just received a Christmas present from PLQ leader @marc_tanguay. An “exciting” read for the holidays, I’m in heaven. Merry Christmas Marc!”, we read in the PSPP announcement. In the photo, the leader of the PQ, with a book in his hand, has a more or less convinced expression on his face.
Mr. Tanguay hastened to reply: “Happy reading, dear Paul! Merry Christmas”, all accompanied by festive “emojis”.
The comic gifting comes after the passing of a law abolishing the obligation to swear an oath to the English king, which came into effect on December 9.
“The oath to the king is out of date. We will want to work quickly to change the law,” said Marc Tanguay.
