Off to Germany! One year after Budapest, the 29th edition of the MTV Europe Music Awards (or MTV EMA) will take place on November 13 at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf. And the votes are open from this Wednesday to allow millions of fans to elect their favorite artists. Unsurprisingly, the big favorite is Harry Styles. The English superstar dominates the competition with seven nominations for Best Song, Best Artist, Best Pop Artist, Best Concert, Best Fanbase, Best English or Irish Artist and above all the supreme category of Best Music Video for “As It Was”. The ex-One Direction will compete there with “All Too Well” by Taylor Swift (names six covers), “Pink Venom” by Blackpink, “Woman” by Doja Cat, “Super Freaky Girl” by Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar’s powerful “The Heart Part 5”. The latter two are also well placed with five and four nominations each.

France the honor

The other queen category of Song of the Year will see the aforementioned hits by Harry Styles and Nicki Minajbut also “Me Porto Bonito” by Bad Bunny and Chencho Corleone, “First Class” by Jack Harlow, “About Damn Time” by Lizzo and “Despecha” by Rosalia. As for the revelations, the public will have to share in particular the rocker GAYLE, the rapper Baby Keem and the K-pop group Seventeen. Like every year, many genre categories are present for the MTV EMA. So, Billie Eilish, Taylor SwiftLizzo or Ed Sheeran compete in the pop category, while France will be very well represented in electro with DJ Snake and David Guetta who will face calvin harris or Swedish House Mafia.

On the rock side, the groups Foo Fighters, Maneskin, Muse Where Hot red peppers will try to make a difference while Tame Impala, Gorillaz and Twenty One Pilots will do well in the Best Alternative Artist category. Groups BTS and BLACKPINK will compete in the K-pop category against … BLACKPINK member Lisa! To note that Stromae is in the running for the engaged clip of the year for “Fils de joie”, opposite Kendrick Lamar (“The Heart Part 5”), Lizzo (“About Damn Time”) or the recent hit “Unholy” by Sam Smith and Kim Petras. Note that like every year, the ceremony features a special category for each country. For France, five artists are in competition: Amir, Aya Nakamura, OrelsanSoolking and Tayc. Last year is Amel Bent who won against Dadju, Vianney or Tayc.
