Charlie Benante Says Pantera Might Make New Music Sometime In The Future: “I’m In”
Charlie Benante doesn’t rule out writing and recording new music from Pantera as part of the group’s controversial “reunification”.
The drummerAnthrax accompanies bassist Rex Brown and vocalist Phil Anselme in the new Pantera formation, which will hit the road this evening for a series of concerts. Benante replaces the late Vinnie Paul, while Zakk Wylde from black label society will take over as guitarist in place of the late Dimebag Darrell.
Asked if they could spend some of their time together writing new Pantera music, Benante answered BraveWords : “Oh man, who knows? Creatively, if we can get along and get going, and things get really interesting, musically speaking, you never know what can happen. I have tons of riffs.”
However, he clarified: “But we put the cart before the horse. I like that positive attitude, but I’m also not sure how people would react to that at this point. I think first of all we have to go on the field and prove that we can play. And I remain open to all potential upcoming projects.”
