Daniel Guichard is an artist who accepts his cracks. Celebrating his 74th birthday on November 21, 2022, the man has overcome many hardships that have fueled his songs but could also have changed his life. The interpreter of Tenderness, The Gypsy or My pal had thus expressed himself openly on a hard battle, that against addiction to alcohol.
French singer-songwriter and producer born in Paris, Daniel Guichard has always had a passion for music. Growing up in the heart of Les Halles, he lost his father at the age of 15 and had to work alongside his first steps in music to support himself, he who left high school in first. In the early 1970s, success reached out to him and he delighted the public on stage, where he could meet them. However, his life has oscillated between professional happiness, family – he is the father of seven children – and the fight against demons…
In 2015, when he was ready to hit the road again and meet his audience, Daniel Guichard opened up about his alcoholism in the pages ofParis here : “I was addicted to whisky-coca and cigarettes, 3 or 4 bottles a day and as many packs of Gitanes… there is always a reason for events“, he confessed. Addictions which originated from his long tours, he sometimes did 200 concerts a year….
