Denmark: cooperation in children’s literature

The Danish Embassy in Vietnam, in cooperation with the Kim Dông publishing house, organized an exhibition of paintings and a formal presentation of the book on November 11 in Hanoi. A journey into the world of fairy talespainted by Tove Krebs Lange, a Danish artist known for her children’s comics.

Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, artist Tove Krebs Lange and Vietnamese children, November 11.

The event brought together Danish Ambassador Nicolai Prytz, Director of Éditions Kim Dông, Bùi Tuân Nghia and many children from various schools in Hanoi.

A book A journey into the world of fairy tales is a collection of beautiful designs inspired by some of the world’s most famous fairy tales.

The event attracts a large number of children.

“We welcome the long-standing cooperation between the Danish Embassy and Kim Dông Publishing in publishing books for Vietnamese children, emphasized Ambassador Nicolai Prytz. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Tova K. Langa for her generosity and kindness in giving us the opportunity to present the drawings and stories to Vietnamese children and friends. I hope that these beautiful pictures and stories in the exhibition will attract not only children but also adults. Most of us know these fairy tales by heart from childhood.”.

Danish painter Tove Krebs Lange talks to young readers.

According to Bùi Tuân Nghia, in recent years many Vietnamese writers and painters have been enriched by Danish knowledge and experience through exchanges and training workshops.

On this occasion, two seminars and educations will be held on Danish trends in the creation of illustrated books.

These events are part of the cultural and public diplomacy program organized by the Danish Embassy in Vietnam on the occasion of the celebration of the 50the the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1971-2021).

About the Danish Embassy in Vietnam

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1971, Vietnam and Denmark have enjoyed strong and close cooperation. In 2021, the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries was marked. Vietnam remains an important partner of the Danish government with cooperation in various fields such as green growth, energy, water, health, education, food security, culture and trade.

On Danish support for children’s literature in Vietnam

The cooperation program between Kim Dong Publishing House and the Danish Embassy in Vietnam was held from 2005 to 2015 with the aim of improving the quality of children’s literature in Vietnam. After 2015, cooperation activities based on the initiatives of both parties continued. Hundreds of Vietnamese writers and painters were trained by experts from the Association of Danish Writers and Illustrators.
