Famous Iranian actress Taraneh Alidoosti arrested in Iran

Known for having played in multiple films by filmmaker Asghar Farhadi, Taraneh Alidoosti has repeatedly supported the protests on Instagram, sparked by the September 16 death of Mahsa Amini.

The 22-year-old Iranian Kurd died after being arrested in Tehran by morality police, who accused her of breaking the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code for women.

Taraneh Alidoosti has been arrested for her recent actions, posting false information and content, and for inciting chaosannounced the Tasnim agency, without specifying the place of the arrest.

Iranian justice confirmed the arrest, on his order.

Taraneh Alidoosti who did not provide documents to support some of his allegations was among those arrested, she added.

The 38-year-old actress notably denounced on December 8 the hanging of Mohsen Shekari, executed after being accused of war against god.

Any international organization that watches this bloodbath without reacting is a disgrace to humanity.she wrote on her Instagram page.

In November, she had promised to stay in her country, to pay the price it would take to stand up for their rights and to stop working to support the families of those killed or arrested during the protests.

Her most famous role is the one she played in Asghar Farhadi’s film The customerOscar for best foreign language film in 2017.

A figure in Iranian cinema since her adolescence, she also starred in Saeed Roustayi’s film Leila and her brotherspresented this year at the Cannes Film Festival.

Several Iranian cinema personalities were worried or arrested by the authorities even before the current wave of protest, such as directors Mohammad Rasoulof and Jafar Panahi, who are still in detention.

Since mid-September, thousands of Iranian men and women and some 40 foreigners have been arrested, and more than 2,000 people have been charged in connection with the protests, according to judicial authorities.
