Francis Cabrel generous: this beautiful project launched by three high school girls whom he accepted without hesitation
There are celebrities who remain inaccessible to ordinary mortals, and then there is Francis Cabrel. The 69-year-old singer, known for his humanity and simplicity, has been showing some generosity recently, according to what The Midi Dispatch this Wednesday, January 18. The interpreter of The dress and the ladder accepted without hesitation to participate in a beautiful project, initiated by three final year students QUITE (Service to the person and the territory) at the Oustal high school, located in Villeneuve-sur-Lot in the Lot-et-Garonne. Trécy, 18, Célia, 17 and Débora, 19, asked to the star from Agen to sing for free in a retirement houseas part of a test called MP6 to pass their baccalaureate. “Their project is moving”, told Mariette’s husband to our colleagues.
Initially, the three high school girls thought of setting up their project around a crèche. But they quickly realize that it is the older ones who need attention. “After quite hectic episodes due, for example, to the Covid, we wanted to mark this new year”, says Trécy, originally from Dunes. To put some balm in the hearts of seniors, teenage girls then had the original idea to organize a karaoke with Francis Cabrel. But how to contact him? Happy coincidence, Trécy knows well Thiu, the youngest of Francis Cabrel adopted in Vietnam in 2004. They were together in second at Saint-Caprais high school in Agen. Thiu accepts give him an email address and the girls immediately send an email to the singer. “He agreed to be a volunteer, not to be paid at all”, rejoiced Trécy.
For the surprise to be total, Trécy, Célia and Débora keep the secret of Francis Cabrel’s participation in the project, when making contact with retirement homes. “We didn’t want to integrate it into the request”, explains the 18-year-old high school student. It’s finally Residence les Écrins d’Aliénor, located in Agen, who responds positively to the three teenagers. The karaoke must be organized within the Ephad next February, so they go on a location scouting accompanied of the Astaffortais. “We do everything to make him comfortable”, they explain. Our colleagues conclude by stating that “the day is not divulged so that the afternoon is as serene as possible”but we know “that there will be karaoke from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., then from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. before sharing a hundred pancakes.“
Francis Cabrel soon to retire?
This trip to a retirement home could echo the rumors that were circulating in 2021 on the retirement of Francis Cabrel. On tour throughout France, he had agreed to answer questions from the Parisianwho had asked him if he was thinking of stopping his career approaching 70. “I’m thinking about it since my first album, in 1977“the singer replied bluntly. “I made 14 albums, several thousand concerts, there is still a repetitive effect. For me, it’s soon”unveiled the artist. The residents of the Résidence les Écrins d’Aliénor will therefore perhaps attend one of the last performances of the famous interpreter of I love her to death…
