It was hosted by TikTokfollowed by more than 1.4 million people, the chef he also adds a printed book to the videos, always with the aim of inspiring people at the kettles and conveying the joy of cooking to them.

Before finding success on TikTok, Laurent Dagenais worked for years in gourmet restaurants in Montreal and Western Canada. After a snowboarding accident in which he broke his wrist, he put his career as a chef on hold and found himself a manager for the Warehouse restaurant group.

Although he no longer cooks professionally, he started making short videos to keep his passion alive. He publishes cannabis-based recipes in video format on Facebook and YouTube, which do not go over well. On the other hand, he realizes that people love his stories in which we see him preparing good dishes.

“The 20-minute video explaining each step of the recipe in detail is no longer relevant. People to move now so fast, they need fast-paced videos, without long or flat parts”, according to the content creator.

His girlfriend suggests he create a TikTok account and offers to help him make better videos. “I wouldn’t be here without her,” he said. Virality and success came after that, Laurent says, which is why he gave up his job to live solely from creating content on social media.

The beginning of the sequel

As a chef, Laurent has always wanted to one day have a recipe book under his name and it has now been done. In his videos, nothing is left to chance, from the music to the taste of the food, through the lighting or the view, authenticity prevails. In the same way, he hopes that his recipe book, created with the help of photographer and designer friends, reflects his style and personality.

Because his inspiration is so diverse, he describes his book as “a mixture of everything.” “I can cook a little bit of all kinds of cuisine, influenced by the seasons themselves or the trips I went on recently. In the book, for example, there are things more Quebecois, others Italian, others more Mexican. I will feeling “, he says.

IN Always hungry! so there are a total of 70 different recipes. Cucumber gazpacho, Montecristo sandwich, beef tartare with burgottis, scone pie… some have already been successful on TikTok, while others are brand new.

In addition to this new book, there are other projects ahead, such as the creation of a book goods(tuke, apron, cap) or even collaborations to create olive oil and hot sauce according to his image. And his ambitions don’t stop there: “The game plan is to quietly go into Ricardo mode,” says the chef.
