Three days ago, an Antwerp woman posted an adorable video on TikTok: she films herself making a “surprise for the 95 years of his old neighbor for his birthday”. A cardboard box in hand, she walks up to her neighbor’s door and then hands it to him.
Willy then discovers a large cake with his photo printed on the icing. At the sight of it, this war veteran jumps for joy and seems amazed. The two friends then share a glass of champagne to celebrate Willy’s birthday with dignity.
This adorable scene moved the whole world: in a very short time, the video went viral and has been viewed over 2.7 million times!
For a “simple souvenir”
In response to this incredible buzz, Eilen then filmed herself showing her success to Willy, again very touched. The nonagenarian even kept the last piece of the cake in a special place as a souvenir.
A series of three videos that continues to move Internet users, even to the point that the BBC wanted to make a subject of their story. “I refused because I did not do this to become famous”explains Eilen according to our colleagues from 7sur7, who is still surprised at the extent of its publication. “I wanted to film his reaction as a simple memory. I am regularly on TikTok: I mainly make videos of me, of my dog (…) I had never had so many likes or reactions.” Humility to the end for the young photographer.
