Amy Lee, singerEvanescencesaid her band’s signature song, Bring Me To Life, “is so much bigger than her”, having exceeded any expectations she had of it.

Speaking of the hit single, she recently told metal hammer : “Bring Me To Life is such a timeless part of my life. When I look back and think about the creation of the song, I thought it was great… but I didn’t think it was any better than the other songs on the album. I guess that’s why people can’t replicate a hit, it’s not a mathematical formula!”

“This song just touched people. It was just a veiled confession of the feeling of love I had for my current husband when we weren’t even together yet. It was a moment when I felt seen by someone, when I had never felt like I was seen by anyone.

“Twenty years later, there are people who still relate to this song in one way or another, and we’re all part of that journey together now.”

Bring Me To Life’s version on the Fallen album – which features vocals from Paul McCoy of 12 Stones – peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and was Evanescence’s first number 1 single in the UK. United.

It was included in the soundtrack for the superhero film Daredevil, which helped boost sales.

Fallen sold 17 million copies and won two Grammys, including Best Performance Rock for Bring Me to Life.
