Judas Priest manager says KK Downing ‘seemed a little nervous and almost overwhelmed’ during recent Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame performance
Jayne Andrews, the longtime manager of Judas Priesttalked about the recent performance of the legends of the Metal at the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony, which saw former members KK Downing and Les Binks join the band for the first time in years.
Downing left Judas Priest in 2011 (amid personal feuds), and relations between the two parties seem somewhat strained ever since.
If Downing’s reunion with his former bandmates for the Rock Hall show was a highlight for Priest fans, and seems to have been appreciated by all musicians involved [1, 2]Andrews gave his own take on the matter.
She told Gloria Cavalera in one of the Gabbing With Girlfriends podcast episodes: “We all said to ourselves: ‘Any grievances or problems, we put them aside. It was a very positive moment. And that’s how we saw it. It’s just a shame that [Downing] didn’t seem to see it the same way… It’s sad for him, really, because […] he had an opportunity, and he didn’t take it.”
She continued: “To be honest – and I probably shouldn’t say this – [Downing] seemed a little nervous and almost overwhelmed by events [sur scène]. And when we talked about it afterwards, we were like, ‘Priest kept touring all these years, he didn’t. So he probably lost a bit of self-confidence. Especially in the context of a big event like this, [et] in front of us all’. He didn’t know how we would be… I said, ‘We had to see one person again. He had to face six – five without me…’.”
She added: “It’s just a shame that once he realized there was no animosity on our part, he didn’t just stick his head out the door and say ‘thank you’. But it is so. He didn’t, so too bad.”
These comments seem to go against thefans hope to see Downing reinstate Priest for the end of the career of the legendary group of heavy metal.
In addition, a new Judas Priest album is expected next year. Frontman Rob Halford recently indicated that he’s nearly done, except for the vocals..
