“Justice in France”: France 3 will film “everyday justice” from Wednesday, October 19
Dominique Verdeilhan is back in service. The journalist, a former legal reporter for France 2 who retired in 2019, will return to public service from Wednesday October 19 at 11:10 p.m. at the head of a new program. It is that evening that France 3 will offer the first issue of its monthly magazine “Justice en France”, co-produced by France TV Presse and Morgane Production, which will show viewers how justice works on a daily basis by bringing in the cameras in the courts.

This new program could not have seen the light of day without the new implementing decree for article 1 of the law for confidence in the judicial institution, carried by the Keeper of the Seals Eric Dupond-Moretti. In 2020, the Minister declared himself in favor of “justice is now fully filmed and broadcast“.
Many precautions
But “Justice in France” – a program for the needs of which the Ministry of Justice and France Télévisions have signed an agreement – is accompanied by a certain number of precautions. According to the France 3 press release, there will be no technical artifice or staging and the cameras will be as discreet as possible. “These recordings required obtaining the agreement of magistrates, lawyers and litigants. For people whose authorizations have not been obtained, they will be anonymized and any identification element concealed“, also specifies the chain. A right to be forgotten is even provided since no element of identification can be broadcast after five years from the first broadcast.
The first issue will take place at the Aix-en-Provence Criminal Court, for criminal hearings related to traffic offences. Judged on appeal, a dozen defendants will parade at the bar for repeated speeding, driving without a license, refusal to comply, hit and run… Around Dominique Verdeilhan, experts on set will decipher these hearings. Throughout the season, both urban and rural courts will host the cameras of “Justice in France” on France 3.
