Kanye West Tweets “Shalom” After Reactivating His Twitter Account – I24NEWS
Kanye West’s Twitter account was suspended last month after posts deemed anti-Semitic
Rapper Kanye West tweeted “shalom” late Sunday night into Monday after his Twitter account was reinstated. It’s unclear whether Elon Musk, who completed the purchase of Twitter last month, has approved of Kanye West’s return. He did, however, seem to welcome her, writing on the platform, “Don’t kill what you hate, save what you love” (a pun on the rapper’s new name, Ye).
Ye’s Twitter account was suspended last month after he posted anti-Semitic messages. Kanye West had also seen his Instagram account suspended after a post, since deleted, in which he evoked anti-Semitic tropes, accusing a musician of being controlled by “the Jewish people”. He said in an interview with Page Six magazine in October that he was “happy to have crossed that line.”
Twitter also on Friday reinstated the account of former US President Donald Trump, who had been banned from the platform since January 6, 2021. The move prompted condemnation from Anti-defamation league CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, who wrote that Elon Musk “shows no seriousness in safeguarding the platform against hate, harassment and misinformation.” “Stop defaming me!” replied the new owner of the platform.
