Le Mazet-Saint-Voy: educator and musician, he became a facilitator in musical mediation
Franck Gambina has just embarked on music therapy. He uses music as a therapeutic tool.
It was obvious, but he needed to understand how it worked to know how to use it. At 57, the Mazetois Franck Gambina has embarked on musical mediation. Music, he has been practicing since he was 18 years old. Author, composer and performer, his house is filled with instruments. And for twenty years he also worked as an educator. “I wanted an osmosis between these two passions and I found it.”
After following several training courses, he has just started his activity. “Music is relaxation, escaping, it softens, it calms. And it’s a rhythm too. We appeal to different parts of the brain.”
Who is concerned ?
Thus, he has just started to help a Parkinson’s patient to find a normal step thanks to the musical rhythm. For Alzheimer, he can look in an old directory. A person with aphasia can regain speech through songs. Music can be a means of communication for an autistic person. Rhythm can accompany psycho-musical relaxation to help combat stress, depression, isolation. Musical mediation can still be a tool for cohesion within a group or a company.
