Meeting Yannick Haenel: Le Trésorier-payeur, edited by Gallimard
November 13 at 10 p.m.
This is the story of a wannabe banker spend it all.
In the early 90s, the young Bataille gave up philosophy to enter business school and got his first job in Béthune, at a branch of the Banque de France.
In this city where the closure of the mines and the destruction of neoliberalism set a landscape of crisis, the life of the treasurer-paymaster becomes a passionate adventure: protected by the bank director, Charles Dereine, he defends the over-indebted, discovers a whirlwind sex with Annabelle, a bookseller from Rimbaud, joins to the Charitables fraternity, collaborates with Emmaüs and meets the love of his life, dentist Lilya Mizaki.
How to be an anarchist and work in a bank? Can we give it all? Yannick Haenel tells how it is possible, with mercy and eroticism, to resist the calculated world from the inside.
Yannick Haenel is the editor of the magazine together with François Meyronnis Risk line. He recently published with Éditions Gallimard Lap (2007, sheet no. 4857) et Jan Karski (2009, Folio No. 5178), Novel Fnac Award and Interallié Award.
