Netflix cancels another series

A Netflix teen series is canceled, the platform has struck again.

Bloom and her friends are stopped mid-flight. After two seasons of adventures at Alfea, the fairies of our childhood bow out on netflix. Free adaptation of the cartoon Winx, Destiny: To the Winx Saga has officially been cancelled. The creator shared the bad news via Instagram. He explains that he learned a few days ago that the red N did not want to continue the adventure.

“It’s especially difficult because I know how many of you have enjoyed this season. (…) I am very proud of all the people who worked on this series, and very happy to have been able to tell the story as we did. It’s been four amazing years. Hopefully we will meet again in the future.”

Yet a small success on its release

Season 1 of Winx had no trouble rising to the ranking of the most popular series of the moment. In just a few days, she was proudly enthroned in the Top 10 of the streaming service. However, it did not manage to impose itself in the global ranking, largely dominated by more iconic licenses such as the witcher, stranger things or The Bridgerton Chronicle.

A season 2 had however been ordered, it was broadcast for this start of the 2022 school year. As a reminder, the story follows the adventures of Bloom in Alfea. A young girl with dangerous powers, she will learn to master them while lifting the veil on her origins. Alongside her friends, the fairy will fight dark forces.

The series is inspired by the Italian cartoon broadcast between 2004 and 2012 on Rai 2. The second season picked up where we left off and ended on a hell of a cliffhanger. Fans will have to be content to let their imaginations run wild as all of these questions about Bloom and her destiny will remain unanswered.

A Habit of the Red N

Like linear television, Netflix applies a fairly strict policy when it comes to its productions. The platform multiplies the series developed under its banner, but not all of them are lucky enough to be able to flourish for several seasons. If the audiences are not there, the ax falls and the path suddenly stops. Creators are often aware of their fate a month after release.

They are also starting to get used to it and are developing strategies to avoid frustrating the spectators. Mike Flanagan, creator of the very promising Nightclubexplained that he intends to develop a second season of the adventures of his characters. While he has so far preferred limited series, he hopes to have the opportunity to take a closer look at the Midnight Club and their scary stories.

He nevertheless indicated that in the event that a season 2 is not on the program, he will reveal the end on social networks. It must be said that here again, the story ends with a big turnaround that deserves some additional explanation.
