Overkill announces details of their new album, Scorched, and their European tour for April (with 1 concert in France)
The group of Thrash Metal American Exaggerated will release their twentieth studio album, Scorched, on April 14 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The official visual of the disc’s first single, The Surgeon, is available below.
Overkill vocalist Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth commented: “Damn, it’s been a long time since we spoke! Ah! I’ll tell you, there’s never been so much time between two Overkill releases, from February 2019 to April 2023. […] I wrote my parts down, deleted them, then reworked them again and again. I found myself changing parts while Colin [Richardson] was mixing! It became a way to stay sane in a very difficult time, in the midst of the madness. Somewhere in Scorched it all reflects, there’s like a common thread, it’s the thing I did to draw the strength I needed, and maybe even the strength ‘we’ had need. It’s different, for sure, it’s a mix of an old-school approach in a modern world… Was it worth the wait? You tell me… See you on the road! Horns up!”
The context of the pandemic pushed the members of Overkill to record Scorched on their own. The mixing of the record was done by Colin Richardson and his assistant Chris Clancy. Johnny Rodd helped with vocal production, and finally, Maor Appelbaum handled mastering and adding the finishing touches.
