Queen unveils the music video for her unreleased “Face it Alone” with Freddie Mercury
Imaging. A week ago came out of the boxes of Queen a new title sung by Freddie Mercury. A true “jewel”, in the words of drummer Roger Taylor, “face it alone” offers a moving melodic journey carried by the magic voice of the late singer.
It is therefore natural that this journey continues through a video broadcast this Friday and produced by Simon Lupton to accompany this rare unreleased from the legendary British group. Combining evocations of Freddie Mercury, archive images of the group or even the reconstruction of the studios of Montreux where Queen particularly enjoyed working, the video for “Face it Alone” is a heartfelt tribute to the late singer and the band that only Brian May and Roger Taylor continue to embody. In support of the lyrics, the director’s work thus addresses the themes “of loneliness, bravery and the redemptive power of friendship”, comments Queen about the clip.
“One of the most consistent periods of the group”
“The intention was to create, despite how the lyrics might be interpreted,” the band continues, “an upbeat video that celebrates the fact that the period in which this song was recorded was one of the most prolific and consistent in the group’s history”.
