Quentin Tarantino will present his book at the Grand Rex

On the occasion of the release in France of his latest book Cinema of speculation dedicated to the cinema of the 1970s, the American director Quentin Tarantino organizes a discussion evening at the Grand Rex on March 29.

His book will be in bookstores for a week – the release is scheduled for March 22 – when Quentin Tarantino, the famous director among others Pulp Fiction (1994) et Once upon a time in Hollywood (2019) will set foot on Parisian soil. It was around that publication that the American director decided to personally host the discussion evening that will take place at the Grand Rex on March 29.

A long-standing passion

Cult filmmaker who won many awards, Quentin Tarantino tells his story in this book through the American cinema of the 1970s, which he fell in love with as a teenager. Cinema of speculation it is presented by the French publisher as a collection that combines reviews, film theories and personal reports. Apart from the satisfaction of his own initiation, Tarantino says he loves this period, that of New Hollywood, because of its great freedom, which brought about a significant renewal. He also does not forget to deal with topics such as the once taboo corruption, but also the emergence of new genres of cinematography, such as spaghetti westerns and erotica, or the promising emergence of independent productions that, in his opinion, were undermined too quickly.

Expected release

The French edition of this meticulously documented book comes as a reward for fans of the American director. It’s true that since announcing in 2019 that he wanted to take a break from his career to devote himself to writing before embarking on his tenth and potentially final film, every new piece of news about Quentin Tarantino creates an event. and nourishes the patience of the initiated. That was already the case in 2021, when his first novel was published. Once upon a time in Hollywood (Fayard), loosely inspired by his Oscar-winning film of the same name.

While we wait to find out more about the sequel, the public can follow the announcement made by the director himself during an evening last November, regarding the shooting of the eight-episode series in 2023, of which he will make it happen.
