The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival is back
The Saint Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival will make its big comeback from May 5 to 15 in Pigeon Island after a 3-year absence due to the covid-19 pandemic. For this return, iconic artists are expected. Sting, Kassav, Shaggy, Buju Banton or saxophonist Luther François from Saint Lucia. The latter will also be honoured. The public will also have the pleasure of meeting other key artists of the moment such as Shenseea, Rema and CKay. Organizers announced a dozen jazz, soca, reggae, afrobeats, pop and zouk artists.
An engine for the economy
This 30th edition of the festival is eagerly awaited by tourism stakeholders in Saint Lucia. In this regard, Lorraine Charles St Jules, president of the Saint Lucia tourist office, says that:
The festival is an economic engine for the whole country
As such, the tourist authorities estimate the average expenditure per festival-goer at around 750 dollars, apart from the purchase of the ticket. The economic impact is clear.
Saint Lucia also wishes to offer “experiences around the festival”. To do this, expect an itinerary called “Art and the City” which will highlight visual arts, literature, theater and fashion events. The online ticket office will open on February 15.
