This trans artist removes JK Rowling’s name from the Harry Potter books | pop culture
The JK Rowling controversy is not ready to be resolved! Accused of transphobia after series of tweets, some readers or fans of the Harry Potter universe find their experience diminished by this story. Among other things, she was responding to an article whose title was: “Creating a more equal post-Covid-19 world for menstruating people” with the tweet that started the controversy : “Menstruating people. I’m sure we already had words for these people. Someone help me. women? We are? Fimmes?”
‘Menstruating people.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?

A tweet that will make trans people angry. To remedy this, the artist, Laur Flom decided to recreate the Harry Potter books by simply erasing JK Rowling’s name. In this way, trans people can enjoy books without being identified with their author.

The artist shares his work on TikTok where we discover everything behind the scenes: printing, binding, graphic design, illustrations… Laur has completely redone the covers of 7 volumes. Count €160 for the volume or €1100 for a package of 7 pieces !
The artist also takes the opportunity to donate 10% of the price of each sale to organizations fighting for the rights of transgender people. So, are we confirming the covers without JK Rowling or not?
