Venus Williams stars in a commercial for a Lacoste campaign.

Following her US Open singles loss to Alison Van Uytvanck, Venus Williams showed off her acting skills in a new Lacoste ad, in which the tennis icon starred alongside King actress Saniyya Sidney Richard who played the role of Venus in the Oscar-winning film.

Sidney was very humbled by joining Venus in the Lacoste campaign. “A campaign dream come true with the incomparable Venus Williams,” Saniyya Sidney said of the ad.

Venus replied soon after. “Such a fun campaign and an honor to do it with the film’s little me,” said Venus Williams. Lacoste described the campaign, revealing the story behind it.

“From on-court encounters to unexpected off-court encounters, iconic Lacoste pieces bring people together around a common sense of style. #FashionSport icon Venus Williams shares the screen with young actress Saniyya Sidney wearing the white nylon jacket from our FW22 collection, in a moment of joyful complicity”, captioned Lacoste in its new advertisement which you can see here.

Venus Williams, the seven-time Grand Slam champion, admitted there were some projects she wasn’t fond of, but that wasn’t the case with King Richard.

King Richard, a biography about Richard Williams and his efforts to make Venus and Serena Williams famous champions, won critical acclaim, and Will Smith, who portrays Richard Williams in the film, was nominated for Best Actor at the Oscars.

“People ask me if I liked ‘King Richard’ and I say, ‘Yes!’ I have to be honest. There have been times when people have had movies or projects about themselves or books or whatever. either they didn’t like it, then I’m happy to say I like the movie,” Williams said in a video uploaded to her YouTube channel, as quoted by Sportskeeda.
