The band’s eighth studio album is being reissued for the 50th anniversary of its release. Not without a little controversy on social networks.

The Scrapbook The dark side of the moon turns 50 on 1is March. For the occasion, the disc will be reissued. The logo of pink floydassigned as a profile photo on all the group’s social networks, has also been brought up to date: the number 50 now sits in the center of the image which takes up those of the prism and the rainbow of the original album from 1973. But this new logo did not win unanimous support. “Take off the rainbow, you look stupid”, “From now on I won’t listen to this band anymore”, “what a shame”… Fans were indignant, convinced that with this logo, Pink Floyd “tends to become woke” recalling the pattern of the LGBT flag. Pseudo-fans or overplayed controversy, the detractors of the new logo quickly forgot that the rainbow appeared from the outset on the cover of the album where we see the decomposition of light through a triangular prism.

The Scrapbook The dark side of the moonsold more than 40 million copies, allowed the group, formerly formed to Syd BarretteRichard Wright, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Nick Mason, to pass on to posterity. The reissue of this iconic work will be released on March 24. It will include an original album remastered by James Guthrie, Blu-Rays and DVDs, a collection of song lyrics and a gatefold vinyl containing posters and stickers. A non-rainbow cover will also be available on the band’s official website.

On the same day, and for the first time, the Live at Wembley Empire Pool London from 1974, will be released on vinyl. A 160-page anniversary book by photographer Jill Furmanovsky and Hipgnosis co-founder Aubrey Powell. It will include rare black and white photos of the band during their UK and US tours in 1973 and 1974.
